The catalyst was a widely circulated SNS clip mocking Kim Soo-hyun by comparing his recent real-life press conference to a fictional scene from his iconic drama “My Love From the Star.” The video shows an uncanny resemblance between Kim’s demeanor and that of Cheon Song-yi’s fictional press conference in the drama, raising speculation that the drama was deliberately referenced to ridicule him.

In response, Kim’s overseas fans mobilized swiftly. They’ve begun emailing Korean media outlets, sending what are being described as fan-created press releases, complete with supportive video compilations, emotional messages, and translated rebuttals. Their goal: to shift public perception and ensure global voices are heard in Korean coverage.

One of their most poignant moves is the revival of a famous line from “My Love From the Star,” spoken by Kim Soo-hyun’s character Do Min-joon, “Bad rumors are the most powerful.”

Fans are turning this line on its head, using it in themed content to call out what they believe is baseless rumor-mongering and online bullying. The rallying cry of the campaign? The Korean proverb “사필귀정 (Sah-pil-gwi-jeong)”, meaning “Truth will always prevail.” This phrase now headlines hundreds of tweets, video captions, and email subject lines tied to the movement.

The fanbase asserts that Kim Soo-hyun has been unfairly targeted and that critical details have been overlooked in the media’s portrayal of the situation, particularly in relation to his alleged past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron.

In the midst of this, Kim Soo-hyun’s fans continue to stand firm, pushing back against what they see as one-sided narratives, online ridicule, and character assassination. And if their passionate, organized campaign is any indication, they’re prepared to stand by their star until the truth truly prevails.
